Fish Should Learn to Walk

Posted on February 29, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliFebruary 29, 2012

I think I’ve moved past my most recent dark night of the soul. This time it took about 7 weeks. Had a couple of things go my way, though, (finding a new apartment to move to, which I love), and an online relationship deepening into intriguing and exciting possibilities….possibilities that become pissabilities…As is the trend with my life, I don’t get anything good without an addendum of aggravation or disappointment. Some reminder that no, fortune does not often smile on me and the Luck Fairies either have a millennium-old vendetta against my soul, have no GPS, or are somewhat retarded. … Continue reading →

Acquittal

from Trustplaces: Erotica for Women Who Love Women I could not post stories from this collection, as they would be much too EROTIC for a blog. You’ll have to buy the book. ;^)     Sobbing, you relinquish the bricks of your fear, the mortar of your self-loathing, and draw me inside you, clenching and stumbling, crying out in abject possession, boiling in your own passion, falling from an infinite sky.

Bettered by a Dead Crustacean

Posted on February 26, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 12, 2020

A new Chinese restaurant opened up on Holiday Island, and they served all you can eat crab legs. So my best friend, Justi, thought of me (bless her). I went down to have the last of two visits with her before i move. I love crab legs, but rarely find it all-you-can-eat for around $12. So I was all about it. Problem is, I usually get hurt. Is it just me, or do you really feel like you’ve earned it when you get that delicious meat out of the shell? I am usually bleeding before I’m done. I know the … Continue reading →

Movie Review: The Descent

Posted on February 26, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliJanuary 21, 2018

The basic premise is that a group of women go spelunking, and find themselves in grave danger (or, in danger of a grave) from a cave-in, followed by the presence of mysterious subterranean creatures who seek to make a meal of them. This was not what I would deem a “b” movie, though it might appear to be so at first glance. It is within the horror genre, but leaning heavily toward thriller/suspense, as any gore or violence is not merely gratuitous but integral to the plot. There are spoilers in this review, so if you don’t want to know … Continue reading →

"Which one is your favorite?"

Posted on February 24, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 11, 2017

Whenever I come across someone new who finds out I’m an author, and they decide they want to read one of my novels, I ask them which one.  They inevitably respond with, “Well, which one is your favorite?” This is a question that has no answer. My books are sort of like children–except for the fact that they don’t get arrested or embarrass me in Walmart. I created them, I went through a process of “raising” them; struggle, joy, challenge, frustration, laughter….So if you ask me which is my favorite, I can’t choose. I love them all equally for different reasons. … Continue reading →

Stupid, Honorable, High-Road Seeking Fool

Posted on February 22, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliJuly 31, 2013

In a post from a few years ago (two posts, actually, under Going to Denver Because You’re Dead) I chronicled this transition of moving to Colorado to start a new life; again reinventing myself, with the hope of somehow finding my new place in this ever-changing, ever-challenging world.  I got rid of three-quarters of everything i owned, packed a U-Haul trailer behind my Cherryot, and off I went. A journey that lasted 30 hours on many days of little sleep. By the time I arrived in Denver, i was exhausted, lost, and had this sensation of being on another planet. … Continue reading →

Nietzsche, Relationships & the Creative Abyss

Posted on February 3, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliFebruary 22, 2012

One of the more useful lessons I’ve learned in my life is that we often have habits about how we deal with things, based on a set of information that may not be applicable anymore. This is why I have to do revisions. I have to re-vision something—look at it again—in order to discover whether or not the method I’m using still applies. Life is about change, and sometimes things change just enough, so that what you have always done is no longer a solution to the new situations and conditions that you are now experiencing. I might be squishing … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

"I believe we're on the cusp of Critical Mass. Like the Cuban Missile Crisis. What We The People do at this juncture might mean the difference between becoming a fascist state & saving our Country from the brink of annihilation. Why is it even possible that some will not vote?"

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)

@BernieSanders 1) You're NOT a Democrat & don't speak for them
2) Voters rejected you in the two primaries.
3) You've been in D.C. for 30 years & yet get anything "bold" implemented.
4) The bold actions that Democrats do take, you either say they're "not good enough" or try to take credit.

There are many domestic terrorists who stormed the Capitol that are receiving minor charges, light bail or no bail, & some DOJ are considering not charging at all.

This sets a horrible precedent for ANOTHER attack because without SEVERE consequences bad people will do this again
