Glaring Errors

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 7, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 7, 2013

This is a wide subject area, but I want to focus on just a few things. As a segue, I have to share this post I came across. I was on a forum where people were posting for help about making money blogging. One poster was frustrated and confused and posted this: “Been using these for over a year and made 2 penies.  How do I earn money on goggle.  It is simply frostrating.  I posted so many adds  on my blog but I have earned no money. what is happening? I have been trying to write all the … Continue reading →

Achilles Forjan review: “particularly engrossing”

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on September 2, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 6, 2013

of 1 people found the following review helpful 5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book From Baeli! August 29, 2012 By Vix Reader Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase I love this author! Ms. Baeli has quickly become one of my “must read” authors. This novel is particularly engrossing with its somewhat detached and esoteric mood. I think the way the author describes the inner life of the main character, Amy, really lent itself to creating an almost haunted tone. Bless her heart; Amy is a tender soul who lacks the ability to shrug off the emotional effects that present themselves in … Continue reading →

Excerpt from Achilles Forjan

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on September 23, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 6, 2011

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by Kelli Jae Baeli!, January 31, 2010 By Tanya Gotcher “This is the third of Ms. Baeli’s books I’ve read and I plan to read more of them. She is an absolute MASTER of characterization! After I read her books, I catch myself wondering about the characters as if they were real people. And, no, this is not a sign I need to be in a mental ward somewhere; rather, it is a testament to how authentic her characters are. This authenticity extends to her plots as well. I can especially speak … Continue reading →

Sex is Appalling, but Killing is Okay

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on February 25, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 8, 2011

Below, is a review posted on Amazon regarding my book, Achilles Forjan. As with the previous post about reviews of Unbearable Lightness of Being UNBEARABLE, it seems there is a tendency for people not to pay attention to what they buy. I added my comment on Amazon below her review… 3.0 out of 5 stars Should have been warned, May 4, 2010 –  By Rachel B. Beard This review is from: Achilles Forjan (Paperback) My grandson wants to be a firefighter. He is a High school junior so I gave him this book for Easter. No where did I read … Continue reading →

My Beginnings

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 21, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

In my readings about writing, I came across several good points about how the beginning of your book is often the most important part–at least, if you intend to grab the attention of an editor, publisher or agent. I wondered what all my beginnings really looked like…and so I gathered them here for kicks. Would these beginnings make you, as a reader, want to keep reading? I welcome all comments. My beginnings…. The openings (first sentences/paragraphs) of my books. “Sully’s, on South Prospect, was the quintessential biker-bar, complete with hefty, leather-clad Harley worshippers, and stringy-haired heroin-addicted women who made the … Continue reading →

Word of the Day: Scurf

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 18, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliNovember 27, 2011

I looked this word up again and got a slightly different definition than the one i had when i used it in one of my books… scurf 1. Thin dry scales or scabs upon the body; especially, thin scales exfoliated from the cuticle, particularly of the scalp; dandruff. 2. Hence, the foul remains of anything adherent. “The scurf is worn away of each committed crime.” (Dryden) 3. Anything like flakes or scales adhering to a surface. “There stood a hill not far, whose grisly top Belched fire and rolling smoke; the rest entire Shone with a glossy scurf.” (Milton) 4. … Continue reading →

A is for Annoying

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 23, 2007 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 21, 2011

Not long ago, it came to my attention that I have some rather irritating trends in my work. Namely, the names. Titles, I mean. My first “slew” of books all begin with “A.” Achilles Forjan, Armchair Detective, As You Were, Another Justice. . .[addendum: later, came Also Known as DNA]. I’m not sure if it’s some deep-seated Alphabetical Addiction, or merely a subconscious belief that my writing is still at the beginning . . . perhaps I am working my way through the alphabet, like some popular mystery writers (A is for Annoying). Now that would be sufficient to vex … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

"Wordplay has all kinds of pissibilities."

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)

Quotes for Writers

“To defend what you’ve written is a sign that you are alive.” ~William Zinsser, WD

Word of the Day

Lothariolo-THAR-ee-o A man who obsessively seduces and deceives women.

Favorite Quotes

“Why do you want to shut out of your life any uneasiness, any misery, any depression, since after all you don't know what work these conditions are doing inside you? Why do you want to persecute yourself with the question of where all this is coming from and where it is going? Since you know, after all, that you are in the midst of transitions and you wished for nothing so much as to change. If there is anything unhealthy in your reactions, just bear in mind that sickness is the means by which an organism frees itself from what is alien; so one must simply help it to be sick, to have its whole sickness and to break out with it, since that is the way it gets better.” ~ Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet

@KrisGoldsmith85 @susanv1227 @Acosta @AndrewYang @Fwd_Party @Acosta of @CNN gave a masterclass in interviewing when he questioned @AndrewYang on his Forward Party. It has zero policy positions. It is currently behind Murcowski & McMullin. Sure don't see any democrats. No policy on abortion, guns, education, etc. @DavidJollyFL knows better
