Glaring Errors

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 7, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 7, 2013

This is a wide subject area, but I want to focus on just a few things. As a segue, I have to share this post I came across. I was on a forum where people were posting for help about making money blogging. One poster was frustrated and confused and posted this: “Been using these for over a year and made 2 penies.  How do I earn money on goggle.  It is simply frostrating.  I posted so many adds  on my blog but I have earned no money. what is happening? I have been trying to write all the … Continue reading →

As You Were: “well written and highly enjoyable romance, mystery and intrigue, with a light touch of humor”

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on September 1, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 1, 2012

Review As You Were by Kelli Jae Baeli Singer/songwriter Tru Morgan is totally in love with her live in girl friend Brittany (Brit) Jabot. Together they share a wonderful home on Red Mountain, Colorado. Their lives are idyllic, filled with their dreams, romantic nights and  riding their beloved horses in a fairy tale, snowy setting. Life just couldn’t get much better for them……. Until one day, a malicious chain of events ends up being the indirect cause cause of a tragic accident. Tru finds herself fighting to find the life she once had with Brit. This in itself is an … Continue reading →

Review of As You Were by ChaoticVulnerabilities

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 16, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

ChaoticVulnerabilities reviewed As You Were Excellent Read…left me wanting more December 30, 2010 WOW. I purchased this book simply caught up in the availability of lesbian romance novels at the touch of a button. My wifey gave me a Kindle for Christmas, spurring a desperate search for novels to use with my newfound “friend”. I don’t live near any specialty bookstores and lesbian novels are often very expensive for print copies. I went a little wild looking for romance stories I can relate to. This novel surpassed that! Others I’ve read were okay in content, horrible in spelling and grammar, … Continue reading →

Another Review of "As You Were"

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 10, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

Another review of As You Were Review by: Noni Nelson on Mar. 09, 2011 : star star star star “Four years ago, as a newly-out,mature lesbian and an avid reader I was staggered by the dearth of quality gay fiction for women. So disappointed in fact that I resorted to writing my own. If I had discovered Kelli Jae Baeli back then I may not have bothered! I was hooked from the first few pages of As You Were. Her characters are natural, their lives are believable and I devoured this book eagerly late into the night. And put it … Continue reading →

New Review on As You Were

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 1, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 14, 2015

New Review of my book, As You Were, on Smashwords. Review by: UnfortunateGhost on Feb. 28, 2011 : 5 Stars “It is obvious right from the beginning of this book that Kelli Jae Baeli knows how to craft a great story. Her main character is the sort of woman you’d love to meet in real life, and I warmed to her immediately. She’s that well-rounded type of character that makes reading a real pleasure. This is a story about a relationship, but it’s set against a backdrop of events and places that serve to introduce and develop that relationship in … Continue reading →

Diction Deja Vu

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 8, 2009 by Kelli Jae BaeliNovember 27, 2011

Even though I tend to have a Swiss cheese memory, there are times when at least I recreate something almost verbatim, without even realizing I have done it before. (Which comes in handy if I do something stupid and delete some writing accidentally). For example, in doing an edit on As You Were, I came to this one sentence: She breathed cautiously at first, –and felt it needed a little more zap, so I added: …like some wayward astronaut stepping from the ship on some unfamiliar planet. …and then i read the next sentence that was already there…and saw: Then … Continue reading →

My Beginnings

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 21, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

In my readings about writing, I came across several good points about how the beginning of your book is often the most important part–at least, if you intend to grab the attention of an editor, publisher or agent. I wondered what all my beginnings really looked like…and so I gathered them here for kicks. Would these beginnings make you, as a reader, want to keep reading? I welcome all comments. My beginnings…. The openings (first sentences/paragraphs) of my books. “Sully’s, on South Prospect, was the quintessential biker-bar, complete with hefty, leather-clad Harley worshippers, and stringy-haired heroin-addicted women who made the … Continue reading →

A is for Annoying

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 23, 2007 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 21, 2011

Not long ago, it came to my attention that I have some rather irritating trends in my work. Namely, the names. Titles, I mean. My first “slew” of books all begin with “A.” Achilles Forjan, Armchair Detective, As You Were, Another Justice. . .[addendum: later, came Also Known as DNA]. I’m not sure if it’s some deep-seated Alphabetical Addiction, or merely a subconscious belief that my writing is still at the beginning . . . perhaps I am working my way through the alphabet, like some popular mystery writers (A is for Annoying). Now that would be sufficient to vex … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

"Merriam Webster is one of my closest friends. We visit over coffee almost every day. Merriam is great at defining things for me."

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)
