Condemned to Repeat it?

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 4, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliApril 4, 2013

Today, I woke, sat down to my first cup of coffee and found a headline that gave me the sensation of a lead weight in my stomach. North Carolina May Declare Official State Religion Under New Bill Republican North Carolina state legislators have proposed allowing an official state religion in a measure that would declare the state exempt from the Constitution and court rulings. The bill, filed Monday by two GOP lawmakers from Rowan County and backed by nine other Republicans, says each state “is sovereign” and courts cannot block a state “from making laws respecting an establishment of religion.” … Continue reading →

Thatness & Whatness – being snarky

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 1, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliApril 1, 2013

Bound to happen….don’t know why I’m surprised. I’ve been publishing excerpts intended to market Supernatural Hypocrisy. Someone just gave me a pissy little review on one of them a while ago, so I went to his site and left one of my own. Amazing what people do. His review was on Thatness & Whatness, and only said “Review by: Brent Adams on March 31, 2013 : star Not impressed. Doesn’t seem well thought out or researched.” So I looked at his wordpress site, and it was one of those generic, newly made ones with all the defaults still up, and … Continue reading →

1st Review of Jael.In a Tent. With a Spike.

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 1, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliApril 13, 2014

Recently, I’ve been trying to market my 6 volume magnum opus, Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology, as I am in the unique position of being a relatively small fish in a big pond, where that material is concerned. Since I am no Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens, my name alone will not sell a book–especially one like this.I do mention this in the Author’s Note: I am not a Bible scholar or a Ph.D.–wielding lecturer, nor a scientist. I was one semester away from a degree in Professional Writing & Editing, and intend … Continue reading →

Somewhere Else (excerpts)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on February 22, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 3, 2013

I am having so much fun writing Somewhere Else. Here’s the blurb (so far…will probably be revised at some point…) so, a Working Blurb. Everyone needs a working blurb, after all… A non-physical walk-in soul makes an agreement with another incarnated soul to take over her body. The Walk-in, perhaps too fearless, and too hungry for the pleasures of the flesh, discovers she has inherited the life of Daelah Murdock, a Mormon goody-two-shoes with a pathological attachment to the color pink. The surrogate soul’s life as a lesbian cop did not prepare her for this. Or did it? As a … Continue reading →

Lunacy Factor: Make My Day (Excerpt)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on January 23, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliJanuary 26, 2013

excerpt from Also Known As Rising & Falling ( AKA Investigations Series, Book 4) Ginger had stepped outside to make sure that Payne Hollister left the premises. She wished she could have arrested him, but the crime had been so long ago, and there was no case to prosecute. Date rape, sadly, was a commonplace occurrence, and more often than not, left unreported. Checking on Phoebe again before she had to leave for her late-shift, Ginger went down to the apartment to change, Izzy joining her. Officer Appreciation Day was not what it sounded like. No parades, no award ceremonies. … Continue reading →

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on January 23, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

Now available on Smashwords: Book 4 in the Aka Investigations Series, Also Known as Rising & Falling. (Book 3 was just made available a few days ago–read that one first! And if you haven’t read #1 and #2, read them all in order, okay? Okay) Here’s an excerpt….(Jobeth is recovering from a fall down the stairs, caused by the slippers she was wearing)   ~15~ Cranky-Pants & Furbabies   Consciousness crept in again on drug-addled feet, and Jobeth immediately saw the close-up view of slippers on her chest. The ones that caused her fall down the stairs. She looked over … Continue reading →

Excerpt from Armchair Detective

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 5, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 7, 2013

…..I had the prepaid cell phone on the seat beside me. Huxley had provided that so he could keep in touch with me, and in case I had some emergency and needed to call him. It was a source of embarrassment for me that I didn’t have something as fundamental as a cell phone, but Huxley seemed to understand, and displayed no judgment on it. Until now, I saw little reason to have one. Who would I call? I kept to myself and didn’t have any real friends here. …..Next to the cell phone, lay the .45 caliber Ruger SP-101. … Continue reading →

Excerpt from Also Known as DNA

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 5, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliMay 3, 2018

~ 1 ~ Ceremonial Tarp & Dangle   I’m hanging upside down, wrapped in tarp, like some retarded Houdini. How did this happen? Well, it all started with me, on the way to my car after a close call. Back to minding my own business. I always mind my own business because I know there are plenty of other people out there who will mind it for me, if I let them, and I don’t feel they’re more qualified to fuck up my life than I am. Only that morning, I was meeting with a client. Which was, in a … Continue reading →

Ask, & You Shall NOT

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 17, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 13, 2015

Excerpt from Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.” ~author unknown* *addition to this quote: “Or he’ll kill because another guy has a fish he wants.” In seeking that rational approach to the question of God, and humanity’s patently blind belief in him, I considered many things. Among them, mental illness of some sort, like epilepsy or Dissociative Identity Disorder, or even … Continue reading →

“Twelve Jews were brutally murdered, huge numbers maimed, and many Jewish women were raped. Two million rubles worth  of property was destroyed.” ~ Lawrence Kelleman I sn’t Christmas a wonderful time of year? Consider this:      Thus says the LORD, Do not learn the way of the nations, And do not be terrified by the signs of the Heavens, although the nations are terrified by them; For the customs of the peoples are delusion; Because it is wood cut from the forest, The work of the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool. Hanging the Moon and Lesbian Monikers

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 3, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

I placed another personal ad on Craigslist. Hopefully this won’t turn into a freak-fest like it did last time. And if it does, well, more material for my writing. LOL. The Ad I used before was way more humorous, but I was afraid it might be overwhelming and make ME look a little crazy. Who knows? Here’s the one I used before: Only seek LOCAL friends & dates. Please & thank you. LDR’s are usually doomed from the start. It’s like being pecked to death by chickens. So not big on them unless you can afford to travel to date … Continue reading →

Book Review: Valencia

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on October 25, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 24, 2013

One of the reasons I began writing lesbian fiction 25 years ago, was because I could not, at that time, find a kindred spirit in them. I could not relate to those characters, and their lives. The women in the pages of the lesbian fiction I read back then did not represent me, nor anyone I knew, or wanted to know. This offended me greatly. As for the book, Valencia, itself, the author does have some writing talent and I did notice a periodic turn of a phrase or insightful comment, but overall, these positives were overshadowed by everything else. … Continue reading →

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on September 23, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 6, 2011

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by Kelli Jae Baeli!, January 31, 2010 By Tanya Gotcher “This is the third of Ms. Baeli’s books I’ve read and I plan to read more of them. She is an absolute MASTER of characterization! After I read her books, I catch myself wondering about the characters as if they were real people. And, no, this is not a sign I need to be in a mental ward somewhere; rather, it is a testament to how authentic her characters are. This authenticity extends to her plots as well. I can especially speak … Continue reading →

Cosmology of the Dark Side–Hell

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 8, 2010 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 4, 2013

Excerpted from “Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology” Volume 4: The Cosmology of the Dark Side by Kelli Jae Baeli Gnashing of Teeth “God says do what you wish, but make the wrong choice and you will be tortured for eternity in hell. That’s not free will. It’s like a man telling his girlfriend, do what you wish, but if you choose to leave me, I will track you down and blow your brains out. When a man says this we call him a psychopath. When god says the same we call him “loving” and build churches … Continue reading →

Jael. In a Tent. With a Spike.

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 7, 2010 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 3, 2013

Excerpt from Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology by Kelli Jae Baeli {website text in red, my comments in black} During some research, came across this page. It’s the most hateful, war-mongering, misogynistic, atavistic, hate-crime supporting, and sickening example of Christian brainwashing I’ve ever seen. And it’s intended for kids. This is the kind of guy who reads the Left Behind novels with demented glee. KID’S BIBLE STORY–  Lesson prepared by: Steve Van Nattan: Blessed Quietness Journal JAEL–A LADY WHO USED WHAT SHE HAD IN HER HAND …the same thing in her head and heart. Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

Bashing an author or a book serves no purpose other than to make the reviewer feel better. If you didn’t like a book, just stop buying that author’s work. Simple as that. No need to inflict injury.

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)
