Projects, Pitfalls, Promise

Posted on July 31, 2017 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 4, 2017

Shame on me. I haven’t posted a blog in a long time. SO much going on with us lately. Dealing with sudden health issues happening all at once, burned out, exhausted, feeling ill all the time, I was certainly not inspired to write. So I decided to take a 6-month sabbatical. It turned into 8 months when I found out in the middle of it I needed major surgery. So, I had to face my #2 biggest fear, (surgery) and I’ve been recovering from a full abdominal hysterectomy, and after almost 8 weeks, I’m still having some issues, which I … Continue reading →

Thoughts on The Thief of Time by John Boyles

Posted on December 23, 2016 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 5, 2017

I have missed sitting down with a physical book and reading. My recent decision to take a sabbatical and just allow myself to be creative and deadline-free, had me standing in front of my fiction bookshelf, seeking something new. Something enjoyable. As most of you know by now, I have become quite finicky about my fiction reading. I read so much of my own work in pumping out work in the last ten years, that I have had little time to read for pleasure, and when I do, it’s inevitably just before I go to sleep, and by then, my … Continue reading →

New Harbor Witches: Keepers hits top TEN on Amazon

Posted on June 19, 2016 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 5, 2017

New Harbor Witches: Keepers is now officially a top ten ‪#‎bestseller‬ {happy dance} I have always been so proud of this book, and the second in the series, Ravens, even though it had yet to get a good foothold in the market, because it’s in such a specific niche category. I do believe it has universal appeal, however, and maybe this increased visibility will help those readers find it. My next project is likely to be book three of that series, as a matter of fact. Been toying with it a bit, and it’s pulling at me a bit stronger … Continue reading →

Drive-by Marketing? Really?

Posted on June 17, 2016 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 5, 2017

A commenter on one of the sites I market to, objected to my promotions, (and I responded as forthrightly as I could)>. COMMENTER: I am seeing “Attachment Unavailable This attachment may have been removed or the perso who shared it may not have permission to share it with you” on both is post and the immediately preceeding two previous by Kelli Jae Baeil. Thefirst post by Kelli Jae Baeil, smells like drive-by marketing. -Three- posts following that promo post, each of which consists entirely of “Attachment Unavailable” makes it look even more like drive-by exploitation. I wrote the rant below … Continue reading →

Pooly Fall released in digital

Posted on June 14, 2016 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 5, 2017

Just ordered the print proof for Pooly Fall (Cross-Pollination #1). The digital copy is already at #3 on Amazon–a bestseller! It’s available NOW. Go to https://www.amazon.com/Pooly-Fall-Cross-Pollin…/…/B01GZWBJBA Below, is the After Words for Pooly Fall. After Words Most of my followers/readers know that I have been in recovery from Adrenal Exhaustion since returning from New Zealand in January, 2015. This has had a detrimental effect on my productivity, and on the day-to-day composition quality of my work. Writing well has become much more difficult. But I keep trudging away, trying not to think about how my usual write-a-book-every-two-to-four-months is not currently … Continue reading →

No Such Thing?

Posted on October 19, 2015 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 5, 2017

It has been said that being a writer is like playing god. You have the power to make anything happen. Writing about witches and magic and newly created myth is even headier stuff. And a whole hell of a lot of fun. But it was also a great deal of challenge, to keep track of all the history, fictional and otherwise. In all my books, I do my best to stick close to the truth. The same is true for a book about witches. I didn’t want to fall prey to the usual tropes found in books about magical beings. … Continue reading →
