Plugging In (poem)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 10, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 26, 2015

I hear your voice breathless and urgent making your request. I feel my heart, thumping, jumping dancing in my chest. I cup your face, pressing into you– slow, slow– You pull me in, gasping, your lips releasing endearments into my ear.

To Sleep, Perchance To Dream (poem)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 1, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 1, 2012

What magic what survived the holocaust of the bitter edged sword, its flailing sparks upon the stone of US, is drawing a last breath. Seeking peace, I closed my drying eyes, and fell into the netherworld of unreal things, wished real‑ And you, with your lofty, oblivious loyalty, bent to kiss my lonely lips, And for that sharp moment all was as it had been THEN. My brain uninformed, drowsy‑ reality a stone’s throw away, but pale beside the stronger images of THEN‑ Shrouded and sealed in that trustplace, Sleep. from

Letter to a Battered Heart

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 29, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

Open letter to a friend whose heart is battered…. I remember that you were there for me when I was going through a lot and had no one. So I will do my best to be here for you, now. In this life, you have to separate your mental and emotional things, your habits, your beliefs–like laundry. Whites over there, colors over there, delicates there. You can’t throw them all in together or the colors will bleed and what was once pure and white is now sullied. Some things must be kept apart, some things put together, and you always … Continue reading →

FWPB

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 29, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

Sometimes we forget the gray areas. The innocuous middle ground that is so often overlooked because it doesn’t scream at us like the extremes do. It’s why certain things are overlooked; like the independent voters, the agnostics, reputable, stable, feminine lesbians, and the middle class. It had occurred to me that sexuality holds its own equidistant region. We have often heard of that relational designation of fuck-buddy (FB), and the other one of Friends with Benefits (FWB), but I contend there is another. The one in the gray area, which has remained undefined, and perhaps under-utilized… FWPB. Friends With Partial … Continue reading →

Agnosco veteris vestigia flammae–I feel once more the scars of the old flame…

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 13, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 5, 2013

Most things for me, now, are in the context of being an HSP. My Sensory Processing Sensitivity is a brain architecture that will never change. It is part of me as much as DNA or eye color or ethnic origins. I know that one of my main weaknesses in this life, is that I don’t do well as a single person, and by extension, I don’t do well sexless. Those needs get in the way of my common sense in evaluating the character of some women. So I have been so bold as to place ads on adult sites, seeking … Continue reading →

8 Things I Learned From my Last Relationship

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 26, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 6, 2011

[1] Proving your level of commitment should never entail losing who you are, putting yourself in danger, or turning over control of your money, your bills, or your happiness [2] If you don’t naturally and easily fit into a persons life, nor they into yours, is either not right or not right now [3] No matter how honest or stable a person may seem, you cannot be sure about it in only a few months [4] If a person shares a home with her mother and is not caring for her due to illness or disability, do not move … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

"Morality comes from religion? There are no Baptist babies or Catholic babies or Muslim babies. Religion is imposed on children by adults and society, and morality is an evolutionary adaptation. Period."

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)

Quotes for Writers

A writer never has a vacation. For a writer life consists of either writing or thinking about writing. ~ Eugene Ionesco

Word of the Day

Lothariolo-THAR-ee-o A man who obsessively seduces and deceives women.

Favorite Quotes

There is a moment when all hope disappears, all pride is gone, all expectation, all faith, all desire. I own that moment. It belongs to me. That's when I hear the sound, the sound of a mind breaking.

It's not a loud crack like when bones shatter or a spine fractures or a skull collapses. And it's not something soft and wet like a heart breaking. It's a sound that makes you wonder how much pain a person can endure; a sound that shatters memories and lets the last leak into the present; a sound so high that only the hounds of hell can hear it.

Can you hear it? Someone is curled up in a tiny ball crying softly into an endless night. ~Michael Robotham, in Shatter
