Muse Recovery & Descriptive Prose

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 27, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 26, 2015

{dusting off the blog}. It’s been a while since my last entry. I was busy with moving back from New Zealand to Denver area, to prepare a life for me and my Sweetie, and we have of course been missing each other desperately, and spending lots of time online Skyping and Typing. And I had to get settled for a while, so I can work out the other plans on the horizon. I am currently residing in an extended stay suite and will probably be here for a while, so i have been trying to climb back on the writing-horse … Continue reading →

Reproach Beyond a Dog (poem)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 8, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 8, 2013

(I wrote this poem years ago, but now understand even more why this issue is such a big deal for me. As an HSP, certain stimuli is maddening to me, and the barking of a dog is probably the number one thing that will drive me insane…anyway, that issue was the inspiration for this poem. P.S. no animals were harmed in the making of this poem). from Yin & Yang: Poetry & Lyrics From Both Sides of my Disposition   Reproach Beyond A Dog A soothing ritual, nightly enacted; a process habitual, rightly exacted: book on her chest, rum tea … Continue reading →

Baggage (Review & Excerpt)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on December 9, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 26, 2011

“I have read 2 of Baeli’s other books–Armchair Detective and Also Known as DNA, both of them in the lesbian fiction genre, so I decided i should also check out her mainstream novels–Achilles Forjan and Baggage. I started with Baggage. I have to say, Baeli is every bit as good in the mainstream genre; she’s just a solid, quality writer who never disappoints, no matter what genre she chooses to write in. In this case, the book Baggage was an engaging, heartfelt and enjoyable story–it’s a little bit family-saga, a little bit romance, a little bit suspense. But it grabbed … Continue reading →

Movie Review: Already Dead

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on February 25, 2009 by Kelli Jae BaeliFebruary 25, 2009

Whenever I watch a movie on FEARnet, I expect it to be a gory, slasher kind of thing. Most people who know me, know that I don’t like slasher movies…what I would call gratuitous violence. This is exemplified with all the popular fare that includes some teenager wandering into the dark room, and having their head cut off with piano wire, or a scantily clad blond receiving a railroad spike in her forehead. This, for me, goes over a line. But in the interest of entertainment, suspense, or the elucidation of human nature, i do enjoy watching how writers render … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

"The truth hurts, and some individuals will always be able to choose any mitigation over the often harsh verities of existence."

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)

Quotes for Writers

In the 40's, the Bich pen was changed to Bic for fear that Americans would pronounce it Bitch.

Word of the Day

Lothariolo-THAR-ee-o A man who obsessively seduces and deceives women.

Favorite Quotes

“No," I replied testily. "I'm pretty sure 'digital' is Latin for 'fingeral,' so finger cancer equals digital cancer. This is all basic anatomy, Dr. Roland." Then Dr. Roland told me that he thought I was overreacting, and that "fingeral" wasn't even a real word. Then I told him that I thought he was underreacting, probably because he's embarrassed that he doesn't know how Latin works. Then he claimed that "underreacating" isn't a word either. The man has a terrible bedside manner.” ~ Jenny Lawson, Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir
