Ravens: New Momentum:
New Harbor Witches series
Am working on New Harbor Witches: Ravens.
Perhaps my favorite part of writing a novel, is when the story starts to gel and pick up momentum and then suddenly all the hidden connections reveal themselves, or else I dig them out and find that seemingly random, disparate things are suddenly related. I can always tell when I come across those, as I blurt out, “Oh, that’s perfect!” This is usually followed by a happy dance that inevitably spills my coffee on the front of my shirt.
Yesterday, I did about 6 hours of #NovelLogistics, creativity and brainstorming with my awesome partner Melissa Walker — who was not only good-partnery enough to continue helping me work out the kinks of the story, but kind enough to write the scenes down on notecards again, when they changed (my hand cramps up these days when I write too much longhand, and my handwriting is now so atrocious, even *I* can’t read it). This process has been like that so much, I feel I need to put her name on the cover of this book along with my own, as co-authorship partners often do things in just that way.
But I’ve got the last half of the story arc figured out, I think. Will be typing them into #Scrivener scenes today and filling them out a bit, see where I stand.
This series is amazing me with its possibilities. Just the epic nature of it. Being able to blend #magic and #history and alternative history…I get to tell a compelling and entertaining story, whilst also teaching a little. My favorite combination. I always hope that readers come away from my work with a smile, some deep thoughts, and new information.
