Ever need to find the first message on Facebook with someone, but can’t bear to scroll back 60 at a time?

Here’s a trick I figured out last night, while trying to find my first message with my now-fiance.

Go to the mobile version of facebook messages, which is
http://m.facebook.com/messages/

• Find the person’s message thread in your inbox, open that up.
• Right-click “see older messages” at top of thread, click “open in a new tab” (for Firefox. Whatever the equivalent is in other browsers)
• Switch to that new tab, and look at the address in the address bar. Notice the part that says “start=” ? After that, is a huge number, followed by “&page”.
• Change that number to 1 (or 10 or wherever you want to go in those messages).

You can put 300, and search in the first 300 messages, 60 at a time, by retrieving the screens using “see older messages” if you’re not sure where the message is. Maybe you now it’s toward the beginning, or maybe you know it was about the 5th message. Whatever the case, you can type in the number and get closer to it much faster. I’ve found that for various reasons, I usually need to see the first few messages with someone.
