All Bets Are Off: After Words:
Thoughts on my current post-apocalyptic novel.

Posted on May 15, 2019 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 11, 2020

Thoughts on my current post-apocalyptic novel. Available May 2019 My paranoia began with the trump administration. Many Americans felt immediately in peril when that dangerous orange buffoon stole the election. I had heard the buzzword infrastructure, and warnings about how it was failing, but until the last few years, I wasn’t even sure what infrastructure really was. I thought it just meant roads and bridges. When I learned that it also included, most crucially, our utility/electrical grids, and then when there were reports that Russian hackers had infiltrated our grid and were just perched there, able to attack at any … Continue reading →

Apocalyptic Women, Snug Haven #1

Posted on September 24, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliFebruary 13, 2020

#1 Bestseller! A woman-centered survival story at the start of an apocalypse, with none of that damsel-in-distress marmalade. “absolutely nails it, & what’s even better, this motley crew of survivors is quarterbacked by strong, competent, yet fallible & lovable women.” “a novel with unabashed liberal viewpoints; a nice departure.” November, 2022. The U.S. power grid is taken down. Franny Sullivan-Sky is on the road, trying to find the daughter lost to her for sixteen years. She and her partner Jack are following the best lead they’ve had, when the grid goes down. But no matter how dangerous it is, Franny … Continue reading →

Juvie: True North

Posted on September 24, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 10, 2020

Novelette prequel to All Bets Are Off (Apocalyptic Women, Snug Haven #1) “I love a story that features strong women conquering overwhelming odds and Juvie: True North does just that. It becomes an adventure of survival that had me a worried mess for her safety, but with action and suspense that kept me riveted to the pages.” Juvie is done with detention centers, group homes and foster parents. Done with living life on someone else’s terms. At 15, she is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Not a very high bar, considering the trail of inept adults in her … Continue reading →

Samegender Chronicles

Posted on June 17, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliJune 17, 2018

Sometimes the best decisions are the ones we make when we have no choice. “Kudos to Ms. Baeli! This story is fantastic. Talk about covering some ground (or space) in a short book–this is a prime example of brilliant writing.” “I remembered the history lessons my grandmother gave me, passed down from her mother, and her mother’s mother. How it used to be perfectly acceptable for two of the same gender to mate. All it took was the apathy of the people, and one fascist regime—one started by a man named P. Murt D’lanod—taking over the governing bodies, and all … Continue reading →

Teeny Weenie Man

Posted on June 16, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliJune 16, 2018

“combines elements of science, laugh out loud humor, alien contact with Earthians, and pull-at-your-heartstrings type moments.”   When Molly Peek discovers an extremely odd hot dog during the course of her working day, she has no idea that her knowledge of life, evolution, and whether Earthlings are alone in the universe will be greatly enhanced. For such a small guy, the Teeny Weenie Man sure knows how to make an impact. It was a good day to have all your ideas about the universe and your place in it shot to pieces. You know – bright, reasonably fine, the sun … Continue reading →

“…you are in for a fantastic journey with colorful characters. Worth every dime spent and so very enjoyable. Kelli Jae Baeli is a brilliant author. “ “This is a fast-paced very enjoyable mystery/thriller … The story and the two main characters are well done, fleshed out and credible.” Wayne Spiceland rated it it was amazing  ·  review of another edition I read the first of Baeli’s AKA Investigations series almost two years ago, which was before I did much at all in the way of reviewing. I’m currently a bit over halfway through Book 3, which naturally brought to mind Book 1, and … Continue reading →

Duct Tape & a Tarp

Posted on May 1, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliJune 2, 2018

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Amusing Story June 1, 2018 What a fun read. The characters are fresh and interesting. The story goes places that you wouldn’t believe, being both dramatic and amusing. This is an excellent read, and I did so in one sitting. Into every life a little rain must fall. Sometimes it’s a sprinkle, and sometimes it’s a deluge. This is the wetter one. Drew Keen is not a People-person. No surprise, she’s lived in the Northwoods for the last decade, living simply and working freelance photography jobs for National Geographic. Finally, the loneliness persuades her to … Continue reading →

5.0 out of 5 starsDon’t Wonder About This Book, Give it a Read, It Delivers the Bread By Micheleon September 27, 2017 Format: Kindle Edition I am a big fan of Kelli Jae Baeli’s writing and this book is no exception. She delivers a solid characterization of several members of an all girl band, detailing their hopes, fears, struggles, their lives prior to the band, their relationships, and their future as bandmates. Each band member as well as their manager is well developed and add something to the story. Ever present is Baeli’s trademark sense of humor with several parts … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

"You're only responsible for being honest, not for someone else's reaction to your honesty."

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)

Quotes for Writers

If you look at anything long enough, say just that wall in front of you--it will come out of that wall. ~ Anton Chekhov

Word of the Day

monoclinous mon-uh-KLINE-uhs of a plant, species, etc. having both the stamens and pistils in the same flower.

Favorite Quotes

“Just because I liked something at one point in time doesn’t mean I’ll always like it, or that I have to go on liking it at all points in time as an unthinking act of loyalty to who I am as a person, based solely on who I was as a person. To be loyal to myself is to allow myself to grow and change, and challenge who I am and what I think. The only thing I am for sure is unsure, and this means I’m growing, and not stagnant or shrinking.” ~ Jarod Kintz, At even one penny, this book would be overpriced. In fact, free is too expensive, because you'd still waste time by reading it.
