Now that All Bets Are Off (Apocalyptic Women, Snug Haven #1) is done and released, I was thinking about how much my novels have been a precursor to the types of books I’m focused on writing at the moment (in my solo endeavors.) I’ve been calling them FemFic, hoping this moniker will take off as a hashtag and as a legit category in popular fiction. (I wrote another blog about this here.) Don’t get me started on my views about our current political landscape, and the need for women-empowerment. Fiction is a staunch ally in social change, and I intend …Continue reading →

Thoughts on my current post-apocalyptic novel. Available May 2019 My paranoia began with the trump administration. Many Americans felt immediately in peril when that dangerous orange buffoon stole the election. I had heard the buzzword infrastructure, and warnings about how it was failing, but until the last few years, I wasn’t even sure what infrastructure really was. I thought it just meant roads and bridges. When I learned that it also included, most crucially, our utility/electrical grids, and then when there were reports that Russian hackers had infiltrated our grid and were just perched there, able to attack at any …Continue reading →
A woman-centered survival story at the start of an apocalypse, with none of that damsel-in-distress marmalade. “absolutely nails it, & what’s even better, this motley crew of survivors is quarterbacked by strong, competent, yet fallible & lovable women.” “a novel with unabashed liberal viewpoints; a nice departure.” November, 2022. The U.S. power grid is taken down. Franny Sullivan-Sky is on the road, trying to find the daughter lost to her for sixteen years. Novelette prequel to Apocalyptic Women, Snug Haven: All Bets Are Off “I love a story that features strong women conquering overwhelming odds, and Juvie does just that. Still a kid, 15 years old and a veteran of the foster care system and its trappings, Juvie escapes another near miss with a foster dad with roaming hands. This teen is loaded with uncanny resourcefulness as she sets out on her own with a few supplies and more bravery and heart than most grown-ups. It becomes an adventure of survival that had me a worried mess for her safety, but with action …Continue reading →
“Simply put, this book was one of the best reads I’ve had in a while. The phrase, ‘I couldn’t put it down’ has lost its significance due to over use, but I’ll say that I couldn’t wait to get into bed at night and get my Baeli fix before falling asleep.” “This book was a blessing and a curse. -A blessing because it was so satisfying, but a curse because I was sad for it to end. So…I read it once, went back and read “Armchair Detective” again and then read it again. It is a sequel to “Armchair …Continue reading →
5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Amusing Story June 1, 2018 What a fun read. The characters are fresh and interesting. The story goes places that you wouldn’t believe, being both dramatic and amusing. This is an excellent read, and I did so in one sitting. Into every life a little rain must fall. Sometimes it’s a sprinkle, and sometimes it’s a deluge. This is the wetter one. Drew Keen is not a People-person. No surprise, she’s lived in the Northwoods for the last decade, living simply and working freelance photography jobs for National Geographic. Finally, the loneliness persuades her to …Continue reading →
“You want to read this book not just for the plot of 2 girls backing down to no one, or the fantastic secondary characters, but because the storytelling is that good. You will be artfully immersed in the sights, the sounds, and all the characters and how they react to one another and to danger.” ~Amazon Review Indie authors Jade Winslow and Petra Davis threw caution to the wind to be together. But now caution is called for when a dark figure from Jade’s past comes calling with murder on her mind. Set against the backdrop of spring in the …Continue reading →

“It was hard to focus on what she said. The blood. It was just everywhere. All over her. All over the floor in the hallway….” EXCERPTS: It was hard to focus on what she said. The blood. It was just everywhere. All over her. All over the floor in the hallway. Chloe was talking. I heard other voices. Heard the Coke machine. The rifling of papers at the nurse’s station. A distant siren. My eyes on the blood. But Chloe. I couldn’t hear Chloe. “What? What?” I said, blinking my way back to her eyes. Chloe still clutched …Continue reading →
EXCERPT A buzzing in my head brought me awake. I blinked at the glass a few inches over my face. Ceiling tiles, a florescent light fixture beyond the transparent barrier. I placed both palms on the canopy, feeling a little like I was in a coffin. Pushing on it, I heard another sound like airbrakes again, and the canopy folded back, as if I was emerging from the cockpit of an F16. I sat up. At the foot of the tube, sat Ethan Pritchard. He looked just like the photo on the back of his book. Scruffy salt …Continue reading →
EXCERPT: Sivon stood examining the spot in the trees. It was all covered over, now, with fresh growth, though that portion of the ground seemed out of place. Different, somehow. Alien. She smirked. Turning, she scanned the field leading to the farmhouse, her smile gone as she considered what she was charged to do. There had to be another way. Maybe she could reason with him. She started up the incline toward the house, the tightening in her gut intensifying as she neared the structure. She distracted herself with more idle thoughts. Concentrated on her steps, and the …Continue reading →
“Kelli Jae Baeli proves herself not just a fine storyteller, but one who’s highly skilled at her craft, both artist and artisan. Syzygy is an entertaining and rewarding novel and a reading experience I strongly urge you not to miss.” “It would be easy for a writer to become so incensed by the prevalence in the real world of the kind of acts depicted fictionally here that her fury detracts from the story, even becomes an obsession. I’m impressed by Baeli’s even-handed treatment of these crimes in her narrative. Oh, the outrage is there, to be sure, but she never …Continue reading →
