The Girls in the Band is doing very well in the charts! Thank you, readers! Here’s the FB live video I did on 19Sept2017 TOPIC: sex in lesbian fiction, menopause as it pertains to readers and writers, an erotica project, and many other things. You could call it live STEAMing, I suppose. LOL. Friend me on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/jaebaeli

Mistress of Mogador by T.T. Thomas

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 29, 2017 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 29, 2017

I have never been a fan of historical romance, perhaps because most of my experience with them has been of the insipid, cheesy variety. Mistress of Mogador is not that. No ridiculous fragile women seeking validation from some musclebound man, poisoned by testosterone; no need to be saved by such a man, and no absurd, quixotic ruminations about love in the vein of puerile cupidity. No, the females of Mistress of Mogador carry the modern I’m-a-Nasty-Woman sensibility, in the most attractive and honorable ways. The characters here are also sufficiently flawed to burst from the page into personhood in the … Continue reading →

Pooly Fall is now #1 bestseller!

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 18, 2016 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 10, 2020

Woo hoo!  Pooly Fall is now a #1 bestseller in its category on Amazon! Thanks to all my readers for making it so. In this new offering, the author blends her most popular characters into one storyline, making this a segue into the next book in each series. “What happens when you mix a small town sheriff’s department with writers, private eyes, paleontologists, and witches? Maybe this. The AKA Investigations team have a new tour bus, and on their maiden voyage, pleasure turns to business when two deputies fall victim to a heinous crime. Meanwhile, the forces of darkness and … Continue reading →

Pooly Fall After Words

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 14, 2016 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 10, 2020

Just ordered the print proof for Pooly Fall (Cross-Pollination #1). The digital copy is already at #3 on Amazon–a bestseller! It’s available NOW. Go to https://www.amazon.com/Pooly-Fall-Cross-Pollin…/…/B01GZWBJBA Below, is the After Words for Pooly Fall. After Words Most of my followers/readers know that I have been in recovery from Adrenal Exhaustion since returning from New Zealand in January, 2015. This has had a detrimental effect on my productivity, and on the day-to-day composition quality of my work. Writing well has become much more difficult. But I keep trudging away, trying not to think about how my usual write-a-book-every-two-to-four-months is not currently … Continue reading →

Toward the Light:
Where my writing is going

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 21, 2014 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 10, 2020

I was reworking the cover for In Absentia (Rain Falls series #2), which I released fairly quickly after Rain Falls, and it sort of fell through the cracks like an orphan. Someone mentioned that I had a bunch of new reviews on it. I didn’t know. Last I looked, I only had 2 on that book… Anyway, I was pleased to see that they were all really good: 4 and 5 stars, which is always a joy, and profoundly validating. But more than that, the readers/reviewers were saying things that reflected what I had talked about with this series. I … Continue reading →

The Pitfall of Literary Segregation

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 12, 2014 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 4, 2017

I believe it is a pitfall to think that fiction for lesbians is all that different from/than fiction for straight people. And I can say that as a person who reads largely mainstream fiction, and very little of what is termed “lesfic.” I grew up reading mainstream, and I continue to do so, and I am quite picky about what I read. It’s hard for an author to get and keep my attention, if there are any thin spots in his/her craft. I think I might be in the process of forming a new list of Favorite Authors. So far, … Continue reading →

Pitfall and the Scoop

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on May 29, 2014 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 26, 2015

Somehow I got tag-teamed. TT Thomas and Kathleen Wheeler both tagged me for this Blog Hop, My Writing Process. I suppose i could post this twice, but maybe just once will do. It’s not like the Blog Hop Nazis will chase me down and break my thumbs. So here goes….. 1)What am I working on? You mean besides this computer jigsaw puzzle? (Addicted to those). Oh, writing. My current project is Pitfall (A Jurassic Romantic Adventure Dramedy). Just as most stories begin, I had the what-if : What if two lesbians who are very different, found themselves tossed back 150 … Continue reading →

Rain Falls hits #1 on Amazon!

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on January 25, 2014 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 13, 2015

After only a week of sales, my book, Rain Falls reached #1 on Amazon in its genre. {happy dance} https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HX82ZV4 BLURB:  India Bell is looking for a regular writing gig to supplement her royalties. She ends up with two assignments – one, to interview up-and-coming lesbian romance writer Tegan Lowry, and the other? To win a bet to write her own lesbian romance, thus securing for herself a job as an editor. There’s a bit of an issue with the second of those. India writes science fiction, not romance. There’s none of that confusing touchy-feely stuff in her science fiction … Continue reading →

Hybrid Methodology

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on December 20, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 26, 2015

(and 3 New Books for the Holidays) I have just completed three books, and am going to make my deadline to get them out for holiday sales. One is a standalone novel in the Crime/Vigilante vein: Another Justice. One is the 5th in the AKA Investigations Series, titled, Also Known as Sleepy Cat Peak, and the other is an anthology of Bold Erotic Stories called The Speed of Dark. The Vigilante one was difficult, in many ways, the erotic anthology, I had been writing in between other projects for some time now; and I was surprised and thrilled that the … Continue reading →

Scribe’s Melancholia, Literary Mind-Expansion & 50 Shades of Grape

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 3, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 9, 2017

I’m in a bit of a funk, a tizzy, a doldrum (take your pick) about writing at the moment. Call it Scribe’s Melancholia. I’m having to seriously consider ignoring my book-marketing, because it’s so time-consuming and takes me away from what I’m really supposed to be doing–writing (Hello). Back to old-school, where writers were sequestered in a dark room with a candle and their muses, and never had to actually market themselves as a product, nor deal with their creations after they were delivered to the publisher. Further, it’s impossible to predict what people will buy anymore. And as far … Continue reading →

Thoughts from a Literary Contrarian

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 26, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 12, 2017

Let’s face it: the fairy tale never happens like that in real life. So if it’s not naïveté, then it’s compliant escapism; and what a sad commentary on a life, that one would need such callow, fanciful stories to avoid being present in it. I enjoy the commonality and compatibility in my current relationship. (Wait. Current relationship makes it sound temporary. It’s not. Let me give that another go: I enjoy the commonality and compatibility with my love, my life, my lovely wife. (Better). Anyway, we have this ritual of reading every night before sleep, if not also in blocks … Continue reading →

Lesbian Readers & Writers

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 1, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 12, 2017

If those readers who are now huffing and puffing and busting a vein on their foreheads would give it a bit of thought, they’d see that they should be glad that I care that much about the quality of my own work. Another writer friend of mine recently posted a blog about the inordinate amount of winking that goes on in lesbian fiction. I had to think about that….I know what she means. There are always some little irritants with those books…I just haven’t read a bad one in so long…because I…sort of…avoid bad books whenever possible. As for the … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

I was having trouble remembering something, so I took my vitamins and then I remembered that I wanted to start taking my vitamins because I've been having trouble remembering things. Is this what it's like to get old?

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)
