Ask, & You Shall NOT

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 17, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 13, 2015

Excerpt from Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.” ~author unknown* *addition to this quote: “Or he’ll kill because another guy has a fish he wants.” In seeking that rational approach to the question of God, and humanity’s patently blind belief in him, I considered many things. Among them, mental illness of some sort, like epilepsy or Dissociative Identity Disorder, or even … Continue reading →

Philosophy, Sexual Orientation, Elephants, & Truth

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on February 12, 2011 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 4, 2013

Thought I would share something that got lost in the shuffle a while back: Posted by Kelli Jae Baeli on September 12, 2009 at 8:00pm *from comment thread with Lee…..in attempting a succinct response, I found myself falling into my nature as a writer, and this comment became lengthy. That was a warning for the faint of heart. I cross-posted here, so that someone might be able to read it later, here, if they become overwhelmed with it, there. Smelling salts available.** Lee, thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. I admire philosophers and philosophy majors…it’s fascinating, necessary, but … Continue reading →

Supernatural Completion

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 27, 2010 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 4, 2013

I finally ordered the proofs for my 6 volume book, Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology. It will be available for the Holiday Shopping season. Volume 1: Cosmology of God & Jesus Volume 2: Cosmology of Christianity Volume 3: Cosmology of the Bible Volume 4: Cosmology of the Dark Side Volume 5: Cosmology of Science Volume 6: Cosmology of Atheism Three years in the making, this is not a project I would like to do very often. It was mentally, emotionally and physically draining. The amount of research, double-checking, rewriting, formatting and other such mundane details were … Continue reading →

Science Heals, Religion Steals

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on May 21, 2010 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 4, 2013

Excerpt from Supernatural Hypocrisy:  The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology Volume 5: The Cosmology of Science “Science has done more for the development of the Western civilization  in one hundred years than Christianity did in eighteen hundred.” ~John Burroughs   WE ENJOY THE SPOILS OF MODERN SCIENCE and technology which allows us to soar into the clouds and reach any destination in this manner, both quickly and comfortably. Individuals from antiquity must have lamented — and had much time to lament — the laborious tedium of traveling from point to point by foot or by beast. It is no … Continue reading →

The Great Fib

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 22, 2010 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 4, 2013

excerpt from  Supernatural Hypocrisy:  The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology Volume 3: Cosmology of the Bible  by Kelli Jae Baeli The Great Fib There’s a huge hole in the whole Flood drama, because anything that could float or swim got away scot-free, and it was the idea to wipe out everything, He didn’t say, “I will kill everything, except the floating ones and the swimming ones, who will get out due to a loophole. ~ Eddie Izzard The story of the flood is a familiar to most people. A man is instructed by God to build a large boat … Continue reading →

Cosmology of the Dark Side–Hell

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on April 8, 2010 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 4, 2013

Excerpted from “Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology” Volume 4: The Cosmology of the Dark Side by Kelli Jae Baeli Gnashing of Teeth “God says do what you wish, but make the wrong choice and you will be tortured for eternity in hell. That’s not free will. It’s like a man telling his girlfriend, do what you wish, but if you choose to leave me, I will track you down and blow your brains out. When a man says this we call him a psychopath. When god says the same we call him “loving” and build churches … Continue reading →

The God Banana

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 20, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 7, 2013

On YouTube, recently, a video was posted of a Christian program called “The Way of the Master” wherein the hosts, Ray Comfort and actor, Kirk Cameron gave their argument for creationism based on the “design” of a banana. Included in their argument were points they said showed that the banana was a product of Intelligent Design, i.e., God. They said the banana is shaped to fit the human hand; that it’s color-coded so we know when it’s not ripe, when it’s overly ripe, and when it’s just ripe enough; that it has a handy pull tab, and perforations to allow … Continue reading →

Thatness And Whatness

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 20, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 8, 2013

(from my book in progress, Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology”) Existence and essence–two things we are prevented from knowing about god from within the Christian faith. Why would we adopt a lifestyle, belief system, code, or any other guideline that has no basis in rational thought or empirical proof? Christian theology states that God is incorporeal, which is to say, non-material. This means God is not composed of matter, which renders the reference to God as a being meaningless. For if something is non-matter, how could it matter? We are beings who are made of matter … Continue reading →

Pascal’s Wager: Hedging The Bet

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 20, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 20, 2008

(from my book in progress, Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology”) One explanation that often comes from the lips of the faithful is this: “I’m not sure, but I think I will go with the God is real thing, just in case–if I do, and it’s true, I’ll be covered; if I don’t, and it’s true, I’ll burn in hell.”  This is known as Pascal’s Wager. [1] First, this ideation doesn’t address WHICH God you should accept or worship. This is often referred to as the “avoiding the wrong hell” conundrum. And what if God is real, … Continue reading →

The Furnace of Furniss

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 20, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 20, 2008

(from my book in progress, Supernatural Hypocrisy: The Cognitive Dissonance of a God Cosmology”) A popular booklet for children in the late 19th Century was authored by Father Furniss, an English priest who wrote “books for children.” Furniss delighted in describing the horrors of hell: “…his eyes were like two burning coals. Two long flames came our of his ears…sometimes he opens his mouth, and breath of blazing fire rolls out. But listen! There is a sound just like that of a kettle boiling. Is it really a kettle boiling? No. Then what is it? Hear what it is. The … Continue reading →

Spiritual Soup For One

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on December 3, 2007 by Kelli Jae BaeliDecember 3, 2007

AS I have mentioned, I am not a Christian, and there are many reasons for this. (I am spiritual, however). I was a Christian for many years, even attended a Christian College, and later studied for several years under a Bible Scholar….to understand Christianity, you must study it, and by studying it, I learned that it is very much a product of a patriarchal society; it’s predicated on misinterpretation, outright lies, fear and control….so this belief system simply did not answer my questions, and did not ring true, nor resonate with me ultimately in any beneficial way. (I can say … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

"I'm an open book. But some of the pages are stuck together."

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)
