Bitch-Slapping Google Docs:
Indie Authors Beware of editing in Google Docs

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 1, 2019 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 15, 2020

here’s a warning to all other Indie authors. Be aware that Google Docs might create this issue with your manuscript as well. I won’t be using that again.

Oh Victory in Earworms (A Melodious Malady)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 25, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliMay 3, 2018

Kelli Jae Baeli #IronyoftheDay I’m an atheist, & yet I woke up with a HYMN stuck in my head. I’d pray to God to make it stop, but then, well. You know. Pasted from <https://www.facebook.com/jaebaeli> Yeah, that was my status update this morning. It’s bad enough, when you just get a regular song stuck in your head, but for an ATHEIST to get a HYMN lodged up in that looping track? Not just the insipid sycophantic melody those tunes always have, but the actual content of the lyrics, the sentiments inherent in hymnal/gospel music, et al; it’s sandpaper against every … Continue reading →

Alien Methodology

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on May 15, 2013 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 26, 2015

A few days ago, I began working on a story idea of the alien invasion variety, because the premise made me laugh and I thought it would be fun. Besides, I have wanted to do a series of short stories to test the market and see what people were responding to these days. Well, the alien invasion story became more like an alien visitation. And then, I found that while it was entertaining in premise, there was no real conflict going on, and none of the characters had much to gain or lose. That’s the death knell for plotting. One … Continue reading →

Also Known as Syzygy (The Next Big Thing Blog Hop)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on December 14, 2012 by Kelli Jae BaeliAugust 26, 2015

The Next Big Thing Blog Hop, wherein writers talk about their current Work in Progress (WIP), has apparently been going strong for 26 weeks, and so many writers have taken part, that I had a hard time finding the originator of the idea… I could have found it, eventually, but then, that would have me spending way too much time on Google, and not enough writing. I’ve been guilty of that before. Guilty of that often. Guilty. Most of the time. Did I mention I’m legally changing my middle name to Google? But this NBT Blog Hop thing has taken … Continue reading →

Mapping your Settings

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 21, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 6, 2013

I have always been a stickler about authentic detail in my writing. This trait has forced me to find innovative ways to make that happen. Google Maps is one of those tools I use. Novelists have to deal with many details while composing their books. One of the most challenging, if you are concerned about verisimilitude–an air of authenticity–is setting. Many times I have set my story in a place I’ve never been. Then, as the story evolves, I find that the logistics of moving characters around becomes problematic, because I’m not sure where one location is, in relation to … Continue reading →

iGoogle for Ideas & Reference

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on November 21, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 6, 2013

One tool that I use everyday has proven invaluable to my writing. It also has value in other areas, but for the purpose of this post, I will address iGoogle for writers. If you are not aware of iGoogle, it would behoove you to change that. iGoogle allows you to personalize your information searches. You can gather, track and monitor all areas of interest, and all in one place, on one page. You add widgets or modules to a certain tab, which you can also create. I have a writing tab where I place all modules concerning writing. This … Continue reading →

Me and Food are Filing for Divorce

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 31, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 8, 2013

I am tired of food. Does that happen as you get older? I did a search on Google, hoping for insight, and I couldn’t find any information on this. Not finding something on Google is highly disturbing to me. You can ALWAYS find ANYTHING on Google. I assume I’m using the wrong key words. But it does make sense that after 40-plus years alive, you’ve probably tried most everything at least once. But I feel I’ve tried everything, along with its variations, a hundred times. I do eat as healthy as possible, and even when I stray from that, I’m … Continue reading →

Nerdy by Necessity–JavaScript Hell

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 17, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 17, 2008

Over the last couple of weeks I have been in JavaScript Hell. While i have full faith and confidence that Blogger will become the preeminent blogging site on the web, having been bought by Google, it is still fraught with some glitches that need attention. But everything that Google touches turns to gold, and years ago when Google began as an upstart search engine, I saw the possibilities, i just didn’t have the funds to invest in the stock. But I wanted to. And while I don’t really kick myself, I sort of kick the universe, for that little bit … Continue reading →

Google Whore

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on March 14, 2008 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 14, 2008

I get around. But only on the Internet. I assure you I am pure as the driven snow…and you know how pristine snow is, after it’s been driven… Periodically i do a Google on myself to see where I’m showing up and what my placement is for my books, and blogs and my various pages on jaebaeli.com. Today, my name appeared on 2,980 pages. Encouraging. On one site, they were giving away my articles and short pieces, and i had to contact them and tell them to stop. I generally want to get paid for reprints. Every now and then my … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

"Some people take drugs, some people go out to bars and drink too much, others have lots of sex with strangers, and still other people cry or smack someone else around...I WRITE. When I FAIL to write, I take drugs, go out to bars and drink too much, have lots of sex with strangers, and cry or smack someone else around..."

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)

I hope this monster is dying, but i noticed a long time ago that earlier pictures of him looked different, but i thought it was plastic surgery. He has not looked like this picture for years. https://twitter.com/brundle_fly/status/1524056076219387905

Sure hope someone creates an alternative to Twitter, because it's now well and truly fucked with Elon Musk at the helm.
