All Bets Are Off: After Words:
Thoughts on my current post-apocalyptic novel.

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on May 15, 2019 by Kelli Jae BaeliSeptember 11, 2020

Thoughts on my current post-apocalyptic novel. Available May 2019 My paranoia began with the trump administration. Many Americans felt immediately in peril when that dangerous orange buffoon stole the election. I had heard the buzzword infrastructure, and warnings about how it was failing, but until the last few years, I wasn’t even sure what infrastructure really was. I thought it just meant roads and bridges. When I learned that it also included, most crucially, our utility/electrical grids, and then when there were reports that Russian hackers had infiltrated our grid and were just perched there, able to attack at any … Continue reading →

All Bets Are Off:
Apocalyptic Women, Snug Haven #1

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on September 24, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliFebruary 13, 2020

#1 Bestseller! A woman-centered survival story at the start of an apocalypse, with none of that damsel-in-distress marmalade. “absolutely nails it, & what’s even better, this motley crew of survivors is quarterbacked by strong, competent, yet fallible & lovable women.” “a novel with unabashed liberal viewpoints; a nice departure.” November, 2022. The U.S. power grid is taken down. Franny Sullivan-Sky is on the road, trying to find the daughter lost to her for sixteen years. She and her partner Jack are following the best lead they’ve had, when the grid goes down. But no matter how dangerous it is, Franny … Continue reading →

Prequel to All Bets Are Off

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on September 24, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 17, 2022

Novelette prequel to Apocalyptic Women: All Bets Are Off “I love a story that features strong women conquering overwhelming odds and Juvie: True North does just that. Still a kid, 15 years old and a veteran of the foster care system and its trappings, Juvie escapes another near miss with a foster dad with roaming hands. This teen is loaded with uncanny resourcefulness as she sets out on her own with a few supplies and more bravery and heart than most grown-ups. It becomes an adventure of survival that had me a worried mess for her safety, but with action … Continue reading →

Teeny Weenie Man

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on June 16, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 17, 2022

“combines elements of science, laugh out loud humor, alien contact with Earthians, and pull-at-your-heartstrings type moments.”   When Molly Peek discovers an extremely odd hot dog during the course of her working day, she has no idea that her knowledge of life, evolution, and whether Earthlings are alone in the universe will be greatly enhanced. For such a small guy, the Teeny Weenie Man sure knows how to make an impact. It was a good day to have all your ideas about the universe and your place in it shot to pieces. You know – bright, reasonably fine, the sun … Continue reading →

Also Known as Armchair Detective (AKA 1):
AKA Investigations #1

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on May 12, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 17, 2022

“Simply put, this book was one of the best reads I’ve had in a while. The phrase, ‘I couldn’t put it down’ has lost its significance due to over use, but I’ll say that I couldn’t wait to get into bed at night and get my Baeli fix before falling asleep.”   “This book was a blessing and a curse. -A blessing because it was so satisfying, but a curse because I was sad for it to end. So…I read it once, went back and read “Armchair Detective” again and then read it again. It is a sequel to “Armchair … Continue reading →

Duct Tape & a Tarp

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on May 1, 2018 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 17, 2022

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Amusing Story June 1, 2018 What a fun read. The characters are fresh and interesting. The story goes places that you wouldn’t believe, being both dramatic and amusing. This is an excellent read, and I did so in one sitting. Into every life a little rain must fall. Sometimes it’s a sprinkle, and sometimes it’s a deluge. This is the wetter one. Drew Keen is not a People-person. No surprise, she’s lived in the Northwoods for the last decade, living simply and working freelance photography jobs for National Geographic. Finally, the loneliness persuades her to … Continue reading →

The Girls in the Band

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on September 17, 2017 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 18, 2022

“This goofy crew of lesbian rockers led by Jane and narrated through her sarcastic/judgy point of view are a lovable mishmash of unique personalities and habits that miraculously gel together. Their screwball adventures will have your belly aching from uproarious laughter, but are tempered from time to time by solemn moments when the going gets tough.” ~Amazon Reviewer What do you get when you mix a repressed mechanical engineer, a freelance technical writer, an obsessive, wise-cracking 911 operator, an incense-burning celibate accountant, and a legally blind corn-fed country girl? A wild ride through the world of a local chick-band, that’s … Continue reading →

Story Book:
(Sister Resisters 2272)

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 29, 2017 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 17, 2022

Sometimes the best decisions are the ones we make when we have no choice. “Kudos to Ms. Baeli! This story is fantastic. Talk about covering some ground (or space) in a short book–this is a prime example of brilliant writing.” “I remembered the history lessons my grandmother gave me, passed down from her mother, and her mother’s mother. How it used to be perfectly acceptable for two of the same gender to mate. All it took was the apathy of the people, and one fascist regime—one started by a man named P. Murt D’lanod—taking over the governing bodies, and all … Continue reading →

Tristoon the Incorrigible

Kelli Jae Baeli Posted on August 7, 2017 by Kelli Jae BaeliMarch 17, 2022

After Beowulf, and before Xena, there was Tristoon… (a spoof) “….Then she had made her way back to the Redwood, ushering out the dwarf-people who had taken time out from their incessant cookie-baking to try on her clothes.” From Note to the Reader Hello, Reader, glad to see you reading. Especially something of mine. I hope you’ll do that again with—oh, ALL my work. For now, a few things about Tristoon: It was written in 1984 after I took a British Literature course. I loved the Beowulf story, but found that I kept laughing, because I would see all these … Continue reading →

Quotes from Kelli Jae Baeli

Politics Quotes

"People feel removed from sexism. 'I'm not a sexist, but I'm not a feminist.' They think there's this fuzzy middle ground. There's no fuzzy middle ground. You either believe that women are people or you don't. It's that simple." (Joss Whedon)

Quotes for Writers

threnody THREN-uh-dee A poem, speech, or song of lamentation, esp. for the dead. Dirge, funeral song.

Favorite Quotes

"If your ever present plastic Jesus or your incessant need to display crosses or icons and your mindless mutterings and gestures of religious colloquialisms make you feel like you belong to something, I submit that you've missed far more than you'll ever recover through such meaningless fodder. If you can't break free from these vapid tidings and your fear of death and the unknown, you were probably indoctrinated into a culture of fear and mental abuse and you should look back into that cause rather than forward to that cause." ~Gregg Eyman

Is it just me, or is something wrong with Al Franken? Saw him on Stephanie Ruhl tonight. He seems off, like his brain isn't functioning. I've never seen him like that. Does he have a health issue?
